The journeys

The Flame, left the Netherlands on 15th June 1925, down the River Rhine, turned to the River Main in Mainz, Germany and then along the Rhine-Main-Danube Canal to the Danube until the Black Sea, where they got on the 10th December 1925. 6 months, through the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Serbia, Romania and Bulgaria, along one of the busiest rivers in Europe, with big tankers and cargo ships 10x bigger. They were caught in whirlpools, were towed, scratched the bottom a few times, anchored along the Danube, crashed against locks and rocks, took the boat out of water for servicing, got their food from local markets, explored small little lost towns along the rivers and canals, opened and closed a multiple number of locks.

95 years later we will be crossing their journey in Mainz, where the River Rhine meets the River Main and from there we'll be following their route all the way to the Black Sea.
I guess it will take us a bit more than 6 months to get there...
